2018 – ongoing // edition main tables 0

in collaboration with: Ivana Meštrov, Dubravka Sekulić, Marko Tadić, Ana Labudović, Nikola Bojić

From 2018 to 2022, as part of the project Workbook: Pustijerna, we launched the Edition Main Tables 0 with the aim of translating and distributing theoretical thoughts on society, art, and culture that critically position themselves against the prevailing neoliberal environment. Nine essays have been translated and published, each in an edition of 300.

Shannon Mattern: Library as Infrastructure, 2014
Hito Steyerl: In Defense of the Poor Image, 2009
Brandon LaBelle: Listening: A Relational Body, 2018
Leslie Kanes Weisman: Woman’s Environmental Rights: A Manifesto, 1981
Elizabeth A. Povinelli: Geontologies: A Requiem to Late Liberalism, 2017
Heather Davis: Life and Death in the Anthropocene: A Short History of Plastic, 2015
Michael Taussig: What Colour is the Sacred?, 2009
Henri Lefebvre: The View from the Window, 1992
John Berger: Why Look at Animals?, 1980

The title Edition Main Tables 0 was inspired by group 0 of the UDC library classification system, which covers general human knowledge. The edition is designed as a heterogeneous basis for research, dialogue and the exchange of ideas, guided by the themes covered in the Workbook: Pustijerna. These themes include: the right to the city and the possibilities of the critical analysis of space, the dominant politics of space, the possibilities of infiltration and resistance, the vitality of the margin and periphery, the surplus, the study of ecology, materiality and the environment through feminist and queer theories, the Other.

Like a work table for repatterning and re-thinking, Edition Main Tables 0 followed our research step by step, and emerged from our working process and multiform research practices. We treated these nine essays as inspirations – as footnotes and quotes, ideas, and prompts for our collective discussions and conversations.

Each individual edition was accompanied by a public reading, and produced in the workshop RISO&prijatelji. The essays were published as pocket-sized editions and we printed, compiled, cut, and bound them ourselves on a sewing machine.

In addition to the fanzine edition, they are available for download in .pdf format on the project page (avalible in Croatian only)
